Why is this Baby Silicone Suction Plate and Utensils Set good for baby-led weaning (BLW)?
- This baby silicone suction plate has a decent depth to allow food to be easily scooped up by hand.
- It has dividers to separate different foods, enabling babies to experience various textures (you might want to alternate with a plate without dividers so your baby becomes comfortable with foods touching and mixing).
- The utensils can be used from the start, helping babies develop hand-to-mouth coordination. You can also consider other silicone-based utensils.

From my firstborn’s BLW experience (she’s now 4 years old and I’m reaping the great benefits of BLW!), I curated this set because suction is an absolute must. At a certain age, babies begin testing the sounds of dropping items and exploring cause and effect by dropping things just to see your reaction.
I also wanted my little girl to build her hand-to-mouth coordination skills, so I introduced utensils as early as 6 months.
Additionally, I initially preferred plates with dividers, partly for practical reasons and partly for aesthetics—yes, I admit, it was for the looks too, haha!
