Why is this Baby Silicone Suction Plate and Utensils Set good for baby-led weaning (BLW)?

  • This baby silicone suction plate has a decent depth to allow food to be easily scooped up by hand.
  • It has dividers to separate different foods, enabling babies to experience various textures (you might want to alternate with a plate without dividers so your baby becomes comfortable with foods touching and mixing).
  • The utensils can be used from the start, helping babies develop hand-to-mouth coordination. You can also consider other silicone-based utensils.

✨This is part of the Ultimate BLW Starter Kit, filled with everything you need to kickstart BLW!

Features of this baby silicone suction plate and utensils set:

  • Utensils are rounded, including the fork, to ensure they are safe for 6-month-old babies to use.
  • Utensils come with a box so you can bring it around!
  • Strong suction to stick to the table, preventing babies from pulling the plate off.
  • Suitable for both hot and cold food.
  • Comes with two 100ml compartments, one 150ml compartment, and one 350ml compartment.
  • BPA free
  • Microwave safe
  • Dishwasher safe (yay!)
  • Hot water disinfection
  • Can be used in freezer
  • Maximum temperature: 200 degrees Celsius
  • Minimum temperature: -50 degrees Celsius

Precautions for use:

  • It’s normal if there’s residual silicone smell after opening the sealed package
  • For the first use, wash with boiling water or sterilise by boiling for 2 – 3 minutes.
  • Keep away from fire and avoid long-term exposure to direct sunlight

From my firstborn’s BLW experience (she’s now 4 years old and I’m reaping the great benefits of BLW!), I curated this set because suction is an absolute must. At a certain age, babies begin testing the sounds of dropping items and exploring cause and effect by dropping things just to see your reaction.

I also wanted my little girl to build her hand-to-mouth coordination skills, so I introduced utensils as early as 6 months.

Additionally, I initially preferred plates with dividers, partly for practical reasons and partly for aesthetics—yes, I admit, it was for the looks too, haha!
